Whittel & Melton, 2018-2019 Hernando County College Scholarship Competition

A person holding an open book in one hand and a small globe with a graduation cap in the other, symbolizing education and global opportunities, with Whittel & Melton's logo in the bottom left corner.

We are providing 3 Hernando County high school seniors with a $500 scholarship to help with tuition costs at a 4-year university.

According to a 2018 Bloomberg report, the cost of attending a four-year public university has more than tripled. On average, college students leave school owing more than $28,000 in debt. Because of this, more and more students and families cannot afford the costs associated with attending college.

For this reason, the Law Offices of Whittel and Melton is pleased to announce its annual college essay contest, which will help three Hernando County high school seniors afford the costs of obtaining a degree. Details regarding the essay contest and submission guidelines are provided below.

Applicants are to submit (1) a complete Scholarship Application, (2) a 300-500 word essay that answers the question below, (3) an official transcript identifying their current GPA, (4) proof of acceptance to a 4-year university, and (5) at least one letter of recommendation in support of the application for the scholarship.

The Essay Topic
